As a carefully restored 18th-century property, Riyad El Mezouar is an authentic riad in Marrakech. Traditional local materials have been used throughout, with an eclectic collection of art and furniture including a range of striking original pieces.

The facilities

The grand salon is an elegant space, with doors richly carved in cedar wood, an immense divan, wooden tables, stately armchairs, a fireplace and an intricate Tibetan tapestry. Outside, a large clay-tiled courtyard and garden is resplendent with aromatic plants like jasmine, laurel, rosemary and lavender, as well as fragrant orange and grapefruit trees. At the centre of the courtyard is a traditional green ceramic tiled pool, fed by a marble fountain.

In addition to the pool, Riyad El Mezouar also offers massage therapies and aqua-gym lessons. Flowing drapes slung across the Moorish archways of the large terrace make for a stylish lounge area, complemented further by stunning panoramic view of the Medina and the Atlas mountains.

The rooms

Riyad El Mezouar's five bedrooms are each individually designed in a minimalist style, accented by traditional Moroccan elements. Spacious bathrooms offer deep tadelakt baths and Nectarôme toiletries, whilst bedrooms boast quality house linens, internet access and electric heating.
