"A classic Marrakechi riad, small and intimate with just three rooms, a suite, a stylish courtyard and a sumptuous hammam."

Riad 72 by Joanna Monkhouse

When you manage to find the narrow Marrakech road that is home to Riad 72, make sure to notice the huge black ‘72’ painted on the wall. This is a small, stylish and unique luxury riad with a designer feel.

The facilities

The courtyard of this luxury riad is green and leafy, with large palm fronds visible from every window. A solarium and a steambath with Eastern exfoliation treatments are also available for any pampering needs. Riad 72 serves meals based upon request and guests can dine wherever they choose.

The suites

Of the luxury riad's four suites, the main suite is enormous and minimalist, with a high ceiling and a bed that floats in a sea of floor. The tadelakt bath is like a big square pot set in from the walls, and the basin is also rectangular, set on a metal frame.

Each room has its own style at Riad 72 – the duplex has a small salon below and the red bed is on a platform with a glass partition separating it from the wooden staircase. The shower room behind is on the same level as the bed, with a large round shower area and a door to the stairs leading up to the roof terrace.

Press Quotes

“Pull up an enormous cushion, and recharge your batteries in the banana tree and fountain-filled courtyard” The Times 06

"Italian owner Giovana Cinel has created a soothing space with a minimum of fuss. The rooftop terrace has wide-angle views over the whole of the Medina." Conde Nast Traveler 08
