In the heart of Fez’s ancient medina, Palais Amani stands as one of the largest authentic riads in the ancient city. Reconstruction in the 1930’s lent the riad a heavy art deco influence, and traditional Moroccan opulence still pervades the grounds. Aromatic flowerbeds and citrus trees line a mosaic fountain in the palace’s enclosed garden.

The facilities

Spacious yet private, service is discrete and attentive. In the luxurious hammam, wellness technicians guide you through sumptuous spa treatments and rituals. Massages are offered in rooms overlooking the garden, or, in the warmer months, under the tented pergola on the roof terrace.

An extensive set menu is prepared by masterful chefs, updating traditional Moroccan cuisine with contemporary style, available in the dining room or the terrace.

The rooms

Tiled floors, chunky carved wood doors and artisan vases highlight rooms with crisp contemporary lines and modern amenities. Each of the nine suites and five rooms has embroidered linens and is equipped with a private sound system. Bathrooms have walk in showers, designer Nectarome toiletries and, often, elaborate mosaic tile walls.

The exceptional 100 square metre suite known as Room 12 is the most elaborate, with an exquisitely furnished reception room, spectacular stained glass windows overlooking the garden, master bedroom with two walk-in dressing rooms and a palatial master bath with mosaic steps leading to a relaxing soaking tub.
