The Hacienda San Jose is a historic Mexican hacienda converted to stylish accommodation on the historic Yucatan peninsula, which skirts the clear blue waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel's ornate gardens reflect the 17th-century Mayan culture which once thrived nearby. The staff are are friendly, courteous and hospitable.

Pop out to the nearby town for an afternoon to learn about ancient and contemporary Mayan life, stroll around local villages hearing stories of yesteryear and explore the unique boutiques of talented craftsmen. Alternatively, plan a day trip to famous resort Cancun which is a couple of hours away by car, or simply chill out at the Hol Be spa or sit by the pool enjoying margaritas.

The facilities

Facilities are traditional Mexican style so expect spacious rooms with high ceilings and four-poster beds. The spa is renowned for its Mayan massages and there is a beautiful swimming pool to relax beside. The tastes and smells of European and Mexican cuisine in the restaurant will have mouths watering.

All 15 guest rooms and suites are Mayan-influenced with hardwood furniture and have been fully restored and adapted. Their high ceilings and unique décor evoke the splendor of the past but they also have present day facilities such as air conditioning, cable TV and high speed internet. Suites all have their own private plunge pool where you can cool off at the end of the day.
