Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa is a tranquil luxury resort on Dhigu, South Male Atoll. From Male Airport it's a 35-minute ride by speedboat to this private island retreat, a firm favourite of honeymooners and romancing couples, but also very suited to families.

The facilities

There's a choice of restaurants, from a laid-back Maldivian eatery, to a fusion grill for seafood and steaks. There's also fine-dining Italian cuisine, a Thai restaurant and a glamorous cocktail bar. The spa is excellent, offering a range of treatments from traditional massages to holistic therapies. A lovely outdoor pool area, private beach, tennis courts and sauna completes the picture.

The rooms

Each of Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa's 110 private villas are sumptuously appointed, in keeping with its communal areas. All boast Anantara's signature outdoor bathrooms, complete with terrazzo bathtubs made for two. All have plasma screen televisions, air conditioning, minibars, a selection of wines, espresso machines and cable internet access (for an additional fee) as standard.
