Made up of traditionally-styled villas, tucked away in a private bay, Bunga Raya Island Resort is a luxurious retreat for romancing couples and families alike. Looking out over the South China Sea, the resort is backed by acres of virgin jungle and blends seamlessly with its surrounds.

The facilities

There are two restaurants, one serving fresh seafood and the other more formal Modern European fare. The wine cellar holds the largest collection in the region, whilst private dinners can be taken in an intimate pavilion overlooking the sea.

There's a dedicated hilltop spa that offers a range of Western and Asian treatments, a 30m infinity pool, excellent diving facilities (from the PADI-certified Dive Centre) and a fleet of boats, perfect for island hopping. Staff can arrange excursions to the nearby Monkey Sanctuary, plus river rafting and mountain trekking.

The rooms

Each of Bunga Raya Island Resort's 47 villas is roughly hewn in the simple style of Borneo village dwellings. All have been thoughtfully appointed, with flat screen televisions, private balconies, air conditioning and nightly turn-down as standard.
