Review of Ca' Pisani Hotel, by Jamie Dunford Wood

The Ca' Pisani in Venice is a converted townhouse, located behind the Accademmia and near the Peggy Guggenheim in a great part of 'real' Venice. This is the choice for those who are looking for a modern Venetian experience.

The hotel's refurbished 1940s restaurant/bar La Rivista serves up seasonal Venitian dishes with a contemporary twist. Its striking design features, including original bamboo flooring and a Futurist-inspired spiral staircase, have made it a firm favourite with locals as well as guests.

Ca' Pisani's 29 light and spacious rooms lead off wide, cool corridors. Interesting silvered furniture, walnut beds, dark wood furnishings, leather chairs and arm chairs in black and burnt orange are offset by cool cream and beige walls. The decor is pleant and elegantly modern.

Doors are of solid inlaid wood at this design hotel. The harmony continues in the bathrooms, the superior of which have large walk-in separate showers. The best rooms are the corner rooms with two windows and tallest ceilings are on the first floor, therefore room 16 would be a favourite. The third-floor rooms have lower ceilings in the eaves, but are just as special.
