Hotel Le Fontanelle is a fantastic luxury hotel in Chianti, Tuscany's premiere wine country. The building is a sensitively restored 19th-century estate, with some of its original brickwork dating back to the 13th-century.

The facilities

Le Fontanelle's restaurant, La Colonna, dishes up traditional Tuscan cuisine, complemented by an extensive wine list (not that you'd expect anything less from a hotel in Chianti!). Belvedere, the restaurant's flower filled terrace, lets you eat outdoors to a backdrop of stunning country views.

This hotel has a beauty treatment centre with an indoor pool, plus therapists on hand to provide massages, facials and body treatments. Le Fontanelle also puts on wine tasting sessions, for those after a less saintly kind of self indulgence.

The rooms

There are 25 rooms and suites at Le Fontanelle. Rooms are decorated in an authentic Tuscan style, with rustic pine furniture, wooden beamed ceilings and flower-sprigged fabrics on the beds and chairs. Modern comforts come in the way of air conditioning, LCD TVs and high speed internet access.
