The St George is a five-star luxury hotel in Rome, close to the Vatican City and Piazza Navona. Housed in an historic 15th-century palazzo, the hotel could not be more different inside, where sleek minimalism is the order of the day. Architect Lorenzo Bellini has kept things whiter-than-white, making this a most glamorous city bolthole.

The facilities

Boasting a library, cigar lounge and a wine bar with over 120 specially selected vintages, amongst other things. There's a lovely rooftop terrace (open June-September, from Tuesday to Saturday from 7.30 pm to midnight) with a cocktail bar, plus the gourmet restaurant, I Sofà di Via Giulia, for contemporary Mediterranean fare. There's also a spa, with sauna, fitness centre and Turkish steam room. A limousine and car rental service, as well as foreign exchange desk, come in handy too.

The rooms

Each of the St George's 64 bedrooms and suites carry the same contemporary style as the rest of the hotel. The come with all mod cons, from flat screen televisions to complimentary high-speed internet. All rooms have luxurious Travertine bathrooms.
