Review of Casa Angelina Hotel, by The TI Review Team

In the tiny, cliff-edge village of Praiano sits this paean to minimalism. Casa Angelina's sleek, angular, whiter-than-white aesthetic is a new one to these parts, and perfect for the traveller who wants abundant sun and endless blue sea, but not much in the way of furnishings. The only flashes of colour are the gloriously over-the-top glass sculptures decorating the public spaces, and the dizzyingly fresh fruit and produce served at every meal. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows throughout the public spaces mean you're never without a chance to be mesmerized by the timeless view.

The facilities

Casa Angelina's resolutely modern ethos extends to the state-of-the-art fitness center - stocked with cardio machines, free weights, swiss balls and circuit-training equipment. The hotel has access - via a super-cool glass elevator - to a tiny stone beach; and there's a pair of sleek Sea Gem boats, accommodating up to a dozen, for tours of the coast. Spa sybarites will like the (tiny) heated indoor pool and sauna, sun worshippers the (also small) outdoor pool with a teak-lined sun terrace.

The rooms

Be warned: it's all about white here. White-lacquered parquet floors, white-panelled baths, white desks and curtains and sheets and hi-definition televisions. A flash of silver in the form of a chic Artimede reading lamp is about all the colour you'll get. Doubles are small but open onto terraces, so feel larger; some face the hills (but there's a genius little single room-just 15 metres square-with a sea-view terrace). Junior suites are the most spacious, with vast bathrooms and 180-degree views, from Positano down to Salerno. Eaudesea, the lower wing of the hotel converted from old fisherman's houses, has four suite-apartments with large patios that accommodate larger groups.
