A top choice for hotels of character in Florence, the boutique hotel Loggiato dei Serviti is in a charming converted Renaissance palazzo just steps from Michealangelo's David. Built in the 1520s, this former monastery now provides some of the best value and best placed accomodation in Florence.
The piazza outside is pedestrianised but not always quiet, as this in the student quarter, its only drawback. The management is friendly and family oriented.
The facilities
This boutique hotel has an old fashioned bar and lounge full of antiques and fine architectural prints. Loggiato dei Serviti provides a buffet breakfast for its guests every morning.
The rooms
Many of the boutique hotel's 38 rooms are frescoed; baldachinos grace some of the beds, and cool stone, high ceilings and some hand-painted furnishings add historic authenticity. Ask for a room with a view of the Duomo.
