Review of 'A Paziella, by The TI Review Team

Brought to you by the team behind Sorrento's famed Parco dei Principi comes 'A Paziella, a four-star hotel in the Capri hills (but just a 10-minute stroll to the main piazza's gelaterie, boutiques, and crowd-watching). It's a fantastic value option, providing all the basic elements necessary for a quintessential Capri stay: lots of sunlight, lots of bright colour, some old-school charm and some great mod cons-from the spacious tiled rooms, to the shiatsu massage therapist on hand to knead out those stress knots, to the minimalist blue-and-white bar under the garden cloister.

The facilities

'A Paziella has a large pool in the garden and a nice lawn for sunning. There's a lounge and bar built into the inner cloister of the building, where guests and visitors from down the hill can sit and enjoy a negroni or Aperol spritz amid the scents of blooming geraniums and bouganvilla. All the boxes that need ticking for a successful stay here-tall ceilings and abundant terraces, a full-service staff that's eager to please, transfers to and from the jetty in Marina Grande-are in place. And yes, from June to September, there is a full series of wellness and massage treatments available in your room or al fresco in the garden.

The rooms

The 20 rooms, which include two suites and a handful of junior suites, are comfortable rather than luxurious-beds are dressed simply in linen or damask coverlets, and furniture is a mix of serviceable antique pieces and lovely wrought-iron and brass headboards (almost every bed boasts one). Floors are of beautiful local blue and yellow tile, and most rooms have terraces outfitted with cafe table sand chairs and lovely potted plants and flowers; some have views over the town and the sea.
