Taman Selini means "garden of the moon" - dreamy by name, dreamy by nature, it's a gorgeous Bali getaway. Just a flip-flop's throw from the sea, Taman Selini enjoys a fab location and, better yet, is sensitive to its environment. That means using local materials for buildings, employing staff from the village and ensuring the gorgeous surroundings stay protected.

The facilities

The hotel still has the best restaurant for miles around, serving traditional Indonesian and Balinese dishes as well as Greek treats (thank the Grecian owners for that). Outside, there's a garden pool with views of volcanic mountains.

The rooms

Eleven bungalows are arranged around a pretty courtyard. Ornate antique beds, crisp white sheets and gauzy curtains are heaven-sent, while geometric stone doorways and traditional Balinese furniture perfect the simple-chic style. Outdoor private showers are another treat. Rejoice in the lack of TVs and Wi-fi and hit the beach - it's only a skip away.
