Alila Villas Uluwatu is the first of the Alila chain's all-villa properties, perched high on a cliff-top that overlooks Bali's stunning Bukit Peninsula. Designed by the award-winning architectural firm WOHA, it delivers serious style with a conscience; each villa was specifically designed to follow an environmentally sustainable framework, making it the first resort in Bali to obtain the Green Globe award, as well as operational certification.

The facilities

The restaurant, Cire, is superb and is fast gaining an impeccable reputation on the island. It serves contemporary Western cuisine, with a focus on regional and organic produce, headed by star chef Stefan Szijta. Balinese fare can be found in Warung, a sophisticated eatery with a dramatic backdrop of the cliff-face and Indian Ocean.

Spa Alila is a sumptuous offering, and boasts five treatment villas alongside traditional Balinese therapies and massages. There's also a well-equipped gym, plus a yoga and Pilates studio. The 50m outdoor pool, library and meeting facilities completes the scene.

Each of Alila Villas Uluwatu's 61 villas is lavishly appointed, and none compromise on the resort's eco-credentials.
