Welcoming Glymur Resort is a family-run resort and hotel situated high atop a hillside just 50 kilometres from Reykjavik with spectacular views over Whale fjord. The resort takes its name from the fjord’s nearby Glymur Waterfall, one of the highest in Europe. The atmosphere is fostered by the hotel’s well-travelled owners, who have filled the rooms and lounges with a unique collection of art from all over the world.

The facilities

Miles of scenic trails surround the resort, but for the less adventurous, Glymur has spectacular geothermally heated hot tubs with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The hotel restaurant focuses on local cuisine, served in a relaxed atmosphere with large windows. The hotel also features a cosy honour bar and several lounges tucked into peaceful corners of the hotel with large televisions and plenty of reading material.

The rooms

Each of the 22 rooms and three suites at Glymur are individually designed with Italian leather furniture and unique art. All the executive rooms are on two floors with a bathroom and a sitting room on the lower floor and a lofted sleeping area. All rooms and suites have high speed wireless internet access, flat-screen televisions and minibars. Six truly stylish villas emphasize the surrounding natural environment, with spectacular views and quality furnishings. Full open kitchens, leather sofas, dining tables and sunny verandas with private Jacuzzi tubs come standard in every villa.
