Chromata is a glamorous boutique hotel perched high on Santorini's caldera, in Imerovigli. It boasts amazing panoramas across the eastern Mediterranean, and the no-child policy makes it an ideal romantic retreat. As such it's something of a hotspot for honeymooners and loved-up couples.

The facilities

The restaurant serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine by night, and by day a more laid-back snack menu of sandwiches and soups. There's a chic poolside bar area, and one of the most dramatic infinity pools that Santorini has to offer (given the sheer number of infinity pools gracing this island, that's really saying something). Chromata also has the added bonus of being within easy walking distance to the nearest village, a pretty whitewashed affair of boutiques, shops and village tavernas.

With just 22 bedrooms and suites, all individually furnished, Chromata fits perfectly into the boutique hotel category. Each is lavishly decorated with sumptuous fabrics and all mod cons; the private verandas are a glamorous touch.
