La Villa Saint-Germain 4 Stars
“Stylishly minimalist, this boutique hotel stands against a backdrop of Parisian bohemia, near some of the world’s finest galleries.”
Hotel Overview
Review of La Villa Saint-Germain, by Nadia Latif
The heart of St Germain in Paris is busy, bustling and very touristy, full to bursting with cafes, art galleries and antique dealers. It can be difficult to find space to breathe; tiny wooden tables crowd the kerbsides, so that the pavement becomes something of an assault course for the many pedestrians.
In the midst of this flurry of activity sits a quiet and contemporary boutique hotel, La Villa Saint Germain. Design-wise, it is neither cutting-edge nor old-school and sumptuous, but it had the kind of clean-cut, modernist lines that appeal greatly to its young and trendy clientele.
The entrance serves as both a lobby and bar area. Sparsely furnished, with colourful flower displays and moody lighting, it sets an immediate contrast to the busy streets outside. The bar itself has over 20 different kinds of whiskey, and for the most part caters only to hotel guests. A staircase spirals downwards from one side, leading to the downstairs breakfast room (though, as a nice touch, breakfast can also be served in bed at no extra cost). There's also a small meeting room for business travellers.
The 30 rooms are smart and spotlessly clean. They all carry a similar colour palette of red and black; it's fortunate that they are generously sized, or the heavy colours could feel gloomy. Each has the feel of a newly-built building, with generous wardrobe space and all mod cons. The marble bathrooms are petite, but most have bathtubs. As a concession for not having a restaurant, the hotel has room service provided by a fantastic local bistro.

Reviews
Review of La Villa Saint-Germain, by Joanna Monkhouse
In the heart of bohemian Saint Germain in Paris, lies La Villa Saint-Germain, a contemporary take on the boutique hotel.
The stark lobby is lightened by large, modern flower displays, sleek upholstered chairs and fabric wall hangings. The bar serves over 20 kinds of whisky. Breakfast is served until noon in the basement, down a sweeping staircase, and adjacent to the stylish meeting room. The hotel's staff are welcoming at La Villa Saint-Germain - a good choice for aficionados of this elegant style.
Luxuriously minimal, the 31 well-proportioned rooms have wide beds with wooden framed leather headboards, comfortable sofas or chairs, contemporary desks and tables, antique prints and modern lamps. Colours are chic and simple - dark (chocolate and plum with some dark red) or beige and grey - and a variety comes in the form of texture, from walls, to bedclothes, to furniture.
The room numbers are projected in light onto the floor in front of each door. The bathrooms are ultramodern - red-brown or grey marble, mirrors and frosted glass shelves and sliding doors.
