Hotel Therese 3 Stars

"A contemporary, calming boutique hotel, ideally positioned between the Louvre and the Opera House."

Hotel Overview

Review of Hotel Therese, by The TI Review Team

By TI reviewer Katie Thomas

Hotel Therese is a sophisticated boutique hotel, just blocks from Paris's Musée du Louvre and Comédie Français. It is tucked away on a quiet, winding street of the same name. It delivers a contemporary, classic style with typical French panache, using dark-wood furniture and smart, striped upholstery throughout. Yet although Therese is elegantly low-key, there is still an air of sumptuousness; all of the amenities expected of a top-notch hotel are present.

Staff is enormously hospitable towards guests - a welcomed change from the rather detached demeanour to be found elsewhere in Paris. Staff is enormously hospitable towards guests - a welcomed change from the rather detached demeanour to be found elsewhere in Paris. They insist on proper laundering, an in-room catered dinner, or even directions to a certain flea market. Every request is followed by an effortless smile and calm efficiency that makes this boutique hotel naturally appeal to no-nonsense travellers and business clientele alike.

Downstairs, as found in most historic Parisian buildings, is the former wine cellar, which in this case has been repurposed as a pleasant breakfast room. Naturally it is constructed entirely out of limestone blocks, and provides a cosy cottage-like venue for meals.

The hotel serves French breakfast daily at quaint tables with dark wicker chairs set for two. Catering is available for lunch and dinner, and can be brought either to your room or the breakfast room. If you've had one too many crepes, and are craving a sushi roll instead, the Hotel Therese is situated among a throng of Japanese restaurants, all within easy walking distance.

An original staircase with wrought iron curlicues leads up to the guest rooms from the lobby. Alternatively, a spacious lift is equally available for those with weary legs and hefty luggage. There are 43 diverse rooms, categorised as classic, superior, deluxe and club; each with colour and furniture variations.

All feature a TV, mini bar and internet access (though it comes with a charge). The walls of the bedrooms are adorned with framed pressed flowers, giving a nod to a country French tradition, while adding to the charming quality of the decor. The spacious bathrooms are finished in white marble, each with ample tubs and shower facilities, as well as provided toiletries.
