Review of Le Marceau Bastille, by The TI Review Team

Walking into the airy, slick boutique hotel Le Marceau Bastille is a bit like entering a salon, or club, or buzzy restaurant: all is spare, chic, and polished. Sleek contemporary takes on Art Deco furniture pepper the white, tall-ceilinged lounge and reception area. Behind the desk, staff are game to help (if not always so well-versed in English).

Adjacent to the lobby is a gallery, showcasing a rotating exhibition of contemporary local and international photographers, that's a must-visit. The bar next door serves high tea, and early-and late-night cocktails, and is available for private parties.

Le Marceau Bastille's rooms come in two types: Urban and Ecolo. The former style is a hybrid of riotous colors-purple, crimson-and straight, sober lines; the latter, a softer style, with sage and sorbet greens, elegant bamboo headboards, and florals on the curtains and throw pillows. Bathrooms skew small, but are fully tricked out with state-of-the-art designer fixtures.
