"A charming 16th-century manor house, just west of Tours, set in 140 acres of parkland."
Hotel Overview
Domaines de Beauvois is a 16th-century manor house, set in acres of beautiful parkland, in Loire. Originally owned by Charles Albert de Luynes, a favoured duke of King Louis XIII, since the 1600's until 1967 it passed through a succession of owners, before being converted into a luxury hotel. Past guests have included Robert de Niro, Jessye Norman and Grace Kelly.
The facilities
A good array of facilities here, including tennis courts and an outdoor pool. The restaurant serves sophisticated French cuisine, and there's a lovely terrace for al fresco dining in the summertime. The wine cellar has a collection of over 10,000 bottles, and wine tasting sessions can be arranged with the hotel. An 18-hole golf course is close by, and even hot air ballooning can be catered for.
The rooms
Each of Domaines de Beauvois's 36 rooms is traditional in style, with queen size beds and lovely views over the surrounding parkland. In terms of décor, fully expect a chintz overload.
