"A beautiful Aman resort, elegantly non-comformist contemporary chic, in a top Courchevel location."

The boutique hotel Le Melezin is part of the Aman hotel chain, possibly the most fastidious and architecturally appealing hotel chain in the world. This darkly elegant, future-Alpine style hotel attracts contemporary, aesthetically discerning guests.

The facilities

Discreet management is a staple of the boutique hotel. The reception desk is a table with nothing but a telephone on its stone surface, this contributes to the low-key, understated style, offset by a soft industrial edge involving mirror windows and low coffee tables. Coolness is a factor throughout the hotel and especially in the sunken bar, with its large screen windows looking straight on to the white slopes. An inner courtyard made of bleached clapboard provides a quiet, external sanctuary. The number one boutique hotel in town, it's perhaps a bit too sleek and chic for a family, but the clientele is undoubtedly interesting. In the bar, 200-year old oak beams taken from chateaux in the area are used to panel the walls and create a stark fragmented effect, albeit in harmony with the parquet floor.

The rooms

The bathrooms in each of the 31 rooms at the boutique hotel are exquisite. Some come with window-side hot tubs looking out onto the mountain. The rooms are the absolute height of comfort mixed with style. Guests are in for a real treat if they get any of the 23 rooms that come with a balcony.

Press Quotes

"Here, pampering is elevated to an art form - pass between two stone columns for a signature massage in the spa, a peaceful haven illuminated by a glass pyramid skylight. The Turkish hammam, with Capri-stone walls and vaulted ceiling, provides the perfect sanctuary for weary post-piste limbs." The Independent 06
