The Cairo Marriott Palace is one of the city's best luxury hotels. Housed in a former royal residence, it was built on the orders of the Khedive Ismail in 1864, to commemorate the opening of the Suez Canal. It has been meticulously restored, with fine antiques and artworks, plus all the top-notch facilities one would expect from a world-renowned hotel.
The facilities
Set amid six acres of manicured gardens on an island of the Nile, the Marriott Palace provides a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Cairo city. It is home to its own casino and numerous restaurants, as well as extensive business facilities and a shopping area. There's also tennis courts, a spa and fitness area. Good children's facilities, including a special pool, complete the picture.
The rooms
Large-scale and lavish,each of the 1,250 guestrooms is decorated in traditional, yet luxurious tastes. All rooms have a private balcony, living area, marble bathroom and king-size bed. Extra luxury touches include Frette linen and pillow-topped mattresses as standard.
