Hotel Yasmin 4 Stars

"This futuristically flamboyant design hotel just off Wenceslas Square has a funky noodle restaurant and young 'n' trendy clientele."

Hotel Overview

Review of Hotel Yasmin, by The TI Review Team

By TI Reviewer Fae Patton:

Hotel Yasmin is situated just around the corner from Prague's famous Wenceslas Square, just a short stroll from the historic Old Town Square. Opened in 2006, it's an edgy design hotel that was converted from a former bank. It also manages to pull off the tricky feat of being warm and hospitable without compromising on cutting-edge style.

The vibe here is anything but traditional. Clusters of mirrored orb lights dangle from the ceiling like disco balls, and the massive furry orange sculptures sitting in the lobby appear to be half-Muppet, half-tree. The glass atrium located on the way to the restaurant features seasonal decorations and captures falling snow in the winter months, making for an exquisite winter wonderland in the heart of the design hotel.

Hotel Yasmin's continuity is astounding. The signature leaf pattern appears throughout - whether on the frosted glass doors in the lobby, the tiles in the hallway or even in the shape of the mirrors in the guestrooms. Sleek, black bathrooms are the only disruption to the design hotel's green, white and silver colour palette.

The facilities

While the name may not be synonymous with gourmet cuisine and sophistication, don't let the restaurant, Noodles, fool you. Serving up steaming plates of delicious oriental food and exotic cocktails, the posh eatery is a favourite among locals who take full advantage of a change from typical Czech fare. Guests can choose to sit on comfy sofas, in bucket seats at bar-style tables or in the chic Summer Garden.

Guests at the design hotel have access to the petite fitness centre which has state-of-the-art gym equipment and houses a sauna. Parents will appreciate the babysitting services and inter-connecting suites.

Hotel Yasmin's ideal location in the heart of Prague makes it a perfect place to host business conferences and parties. The conference rooms can house everything from important seminars to cocktail parties.

The rooms

The 189 rooms manage to live up to the high standards of the rest of the design hotel while still providing guests the utmost in comfort and functionality. All rooms are spacious with unbelievably fluffy bedding and blackout curtains.

While all of the rooms at this design hotel are comfortable, some exceptional characteristics set a few of them apart. Junior Suites boast large slanted windows looking out onto streets of Prague and a coffee and tea maker. The Yasmin Suite, with extra-high ceilings, a separate living room and a lovely street view wowed the TI envoy.

The Press Say

"Among emerging Czech design hotels, it's cheering to find one with a sense of humour. Hotel Yasmin's whimsical style begins with its signature leaf print and black Philippe Starck bathrooms and erupts into the "sci-fi meets jungle" look of its public rooms." Guardian 07
