The Fairmont Château Whistler is a luxury hotel that sits at the base of Blackcomb Mountains, in British Columbia, Canada. It is one of North America's top resort destinations, and is packed with every conceivable amenity you could wish for, from winter sports, to spa treatments, to golfing.

The facilities

Large scale and lavish are the buzzwords here. There's a choice of restaurants - The Wildflower is the signature eatery, and serves locally-inspired dishes in a relaxed setting. There's an adjoining patio for summer dining al fresco. Then there's the Portobello Bakery for fresh breads, pastries and deli-style snacks. Afternoon tea is served each afternoon in the Chateau.

With all this high-cal fare, it's a good thing that there's so many sporting activities to choose from here. There's a outdoor lap pool (with underwater music, if you're partial), plus an indoor leisure pool. There's also a full health spa with gym, sauna and eucalyptus steam rooms. And of course, the expected gamut of activities, like golf, skiing and trekking.

The rooms

Each of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler's 550 rooms is traditionally but luxuriously appointed. Views are spectacular; the best look out over the mountain range and are well worth securing on booking. All have king size beds (or two queens in twin rooms), high speed internet access and deluxe toiletries in the bathrooms.
