Ilha de Toque Toque is an intimate boutique hotel that lies close to the beaches of Sao Sebastian, on the Brazilian coast. It sits pretty amid a lush landscape of palm trees and green hills, and has been carefully designed to blend in with the landscape, rather than dominate it. This eco-positive outlook extends to the running of the hotel, with solar energy harnessed to heat the hotel's water, reclaimed furnishings throughout and an extensive recycling scheme.

The facilities

Owing to its small size, facilities here are fairly minimal; the focus really is on the suites. There's a lovely tree-fringed pool area, plus a sauna and massage rooms. The restaurant specialises in seafood, and is well-renowned in the area for its high standards. There's also a relaxed bar area and room service, which runs until 10:00 pm.

The rooms

Each of Ilha de Toque Toque's 10 suites is simply, yet tastefully, appointed. Each comes with its own private verandah and ocean view, plus all the expected mod cons: flatscreen televisions and DVD players. The better ones have Japanese ofuros, or deep soaking tubs.
