Palais Coburg Residenz 5 Stars
"A sophisticated fusion of the modern and the baroque, this luxurious grand dame has a sumptuous rooftop spa and true wow factor."
The Press Say
""Steel-and-glass meets Biedermeier-and-baroque." Tatler 05"Duke Ferdinand would find comfort in the fact that up the grand staircase his Blue Salon and Chinese Salon remain the same, as does the opulent pink-and-yellow marble ballroom where Johann Strauss conducted his orchestra as dancers waltzed across the parquet floor." New York Times 06
Hotel Overview
Review of Palais Coburg Residenz, by Jasper Sharp
Built in the mid 19th-century on the remains of Vienna's historic Renaissance defences, the Palais Coburg was lavishly restored and opened as a luxury hotel in late 2003.
On the top floor, with a magnificent view of the city, is a luxurious spa, complete with pool, Finnish sauna, steam bath and fitness centre all for the exclusive use of the luxury hotel's guests.
Celebrity chef Christian Petz runs the Palais Coburg's award-winning restaurant, in which guests can choose from among the 35,000 bottles of wine (the oldest dating back as far as 1795) stored in the palace's former ice cellar. This huge reserve is the largest of its kind in Austria and unique for a luxury hotel anywhere.
A seamingly endless succession of opulent reception rooms filled with magnificent paintings, beautifully crafted reproductions of the palace's original furniture and discreetly installed state-of-the-art conference facilities can be hired for special events.
A member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux Group, Palais Coburg just 35 rooms, all of them suites (City, Modern, Palace and Imperial Palace). Individually named after former European kings and queens, the majority of them have two floors, range in size from 55 to 165m2 and come with complimentary à la carte room service breakfast and a tastefully stocked minibar.
