Where else in the world can you help yourself to a drink from your own bar, slip off your clothes and step into a bath - all on a private, open-air terrace with a magnificent view of the sea? You can dine and even sleep on the terrace (mosquito net provided). The principle followed by the resort's owner is that guests can be as close to nature as they wish. When the individual cottages were built, he requested that no trees be felled and encouraged the resident frogs, monitor lizards and squirrels to share the habitat. Tropical gardens lead down to the pool and one of the very few private beaches on the island. Here Floyd's Beach Bistro, named after the TV chef, a friend of the family, specialises in stir-fries, while Chef Chom's Thai Restaurant serves authentic Thai food on an open-air terrace overlooking the bay. A third restaurant serves European dishes on a daily changing menu. Watersports, elephant treks and cultural safaris put this resort in a class of its own.

Eating in

Chef Chom's Thai Restaurant - Serves authentic Thai home cooking as well as Royal Thai cuisine. Thai cuisine chefs are Chef Chom and Chef Poo. Dress is polite and smart casual. Reservations are required for tables looking on to the sea.
