"Like a ten-roomed version of a Malmaison: cool, contemporary and moody - a decadent boutique hotel in Edinburgh."
The Bonham calls itself the coolest design hotel in Edinburgh with perfect justification. Occupying a series of Victorian buildings in the West End of the city, this stylish haunt is one of Scotland’s finest.
The facilities
The inside of this chic design hotel boasts splashes of mulberry, black and green colours against a bleached wood decor. Carefully selected works of contemporary art line the walls and add to the fun, upbeat, welcoming environment. The trendy reception area also adds a hint of style, while the restaurant only solidifies the Bonham’s top reputation with a traditional French menu awarded with two AA rosettes.
The rooms
The effect in the 48 rooms of this design hotel is of thick-carpeted comfort that is more classic solidity than designer cool. The furniture is individually designed, well made and modern. The colours at the Bonham are vibrant but rich, sporting rust, blue or purple carpeting along with crushed velvet fabrics and swagged drapes. Beds are high, large and deep. And though the rooms themselves are not large, the tall Georgian ceilings and windows make them feel airy.
“A sleek, modern hotel with enormous baths, a beautiful double-height bar and a view of a Modernist garage.” Telegraph 07
"Much favoured by visiting celebs and writers at the Book Festival. Great views outback over New Town on floors two and up. Elegant dining in calm, spacious restaurant (especially the end table by back window)" The Guardian 07
This stylish design hotel attracts a young, vibrant crowd.
