"A restored hilltop village turned luxury hotel, lovely views, high-end prices, some cheaper rooms."

Luxury hotel Castello di Montegridolfo is situated in the green hills of Italy’s Valconca valley, close to the Adriatic Sea. Its panoramic views of a countryside dotted with abandoned fortresses, towers, ancient churches make it a truly unique place to stay.

Built in the 13th century, the Palazzo Viviani (which houses the main building of luxury hotel Castello di Montegridolfo) reopened in 1994 after a six year restoration, overseen by clothing designer Alberta Ferretti. The luxury hotel’s flagstones-and-chandeliers decor perfectly complements its historical setting.

The facilities

Castello di Montegridolfo’s subterranean restaurant serves up gastronomic Italian fare, which can be eaten in the summer months on the terrace to a backdrop of stunning sea views. The wine cellar is excellently stocked. The luxury hotel’s outdoor pool also enjoys great views.

The rooms

Castello di Montegridolfo has 54 air conditioned guestrooms split between four different sites. Guests can stay in suites in the hotel’s main building, Palazzo Viviani, or in villa apartments nearby. All rooms at the luxury hotel’s Palazzo Viviani are individually decorated and retain many antiques and original features from the old palace building (for example, one suite is named The Fresco Bedroom, another The Chrystal Bedroom). The Casa del Pittore by the pool also offers individually decorated suites named after plants and flowers. All suites are romantic, private and beautiful.

The newly-built Borgo Antico and Borgo Nuovo villas offer comfortable, functional suites for guests to relax in. Many of these apartments have their own kitchenettes. All rooms at the luxury hotel have satellite TV and spacious bathrooms.
