Riad 12 is a sleek luxury riad in the heart of the ancient Marrakech medina close to Dar el Bacha. With only three rooms, Riad 12 is usually booked exclusively and attracts sophisticated urbanites on a budget with a taste for modern design. Interiors are a mixture of sleek contemporary design and traditional Moroccan detailing and all bathrooms are clad in richly-veined red and grey marble instead of the traditional local tadelakt technique favoured by most luxury riads.
The facilities
A small plunge pool is the focus of the small courtyard and beside it a chic dining room with sculptural rattan chairs is where traditional Moroccan dishes made with fresh market produce are served on request. The living room is kitted out with an open fire for romantic, chilly winter nights and the roof terrace has sun loungers and an outdoor shower to cool off under. The staff leave guests to their own devices from 10 p.m. but can always be contacted via the luxury riad's mobile phone and there's an honesty bar at their disposal.
The rooms
Of the three rooms at Riad 12, Chambre Camellia is the biggest and by far the most decadent thanks to its huge marble bathtub.
