Riad Ambre was the first of the distinctive Lotus luxury riads in Marrakech and set the tone for sister properties Riad Lotus Perle and Riad Lotus Privilege. Urbanites and fashionistas love it for its funky, modern interiors and great location a mere five minutes from Marrakech's main square Jemaa El Fna.
The facilities
As you enter the luxury riad from the chaotic souks, the tiny courtyard and charming salon offer a welcome oasis away from the heat and the bustle. Upstairs, a wide balcony with an Indian theme overlooks the courtyard but the roof terrace is the favourite spot for guests to enjoy the sunshine and the stunning views over Marrakech's medieval medina. A small hammam offers relaxation for the world-weary traveller and if you're taken by the excellent traditional Moroccan dishes served for lunch and dinner, cooking classes are also available on request.
The rooms
All five rooms at Riad Ambre are furnished with all the gadgetry of a five-star hotel (TV, DVD, B&O stereo and Wi-Fi) and four have a Warhol-esque portrait of the icon after which each is named. The luxury riad’s Kennedy Suite, complete with portrait of Jackie O and stunning cedar-wood, original ceiling with glass cupola, is popular with families as it sleeps up to five.
