Mykonos Theoxenia is a sexy retro boutique hotel where Austin Powers would feel right at home. Following a recent complete refurbishment, funky fabrics, a palette of bright pastels and ceramics in hues of Mykonos’ signature sky blue match the original boxy, concrete boutique hotel which was built in 1960 by renowned Greek architect Aris Konstantinidis. Tucked away behind Mykonos’ five iconic windmills, it has an excellent location just a short walk from the buzzing bars, gourmet restaurants and fancy boutiques of Mykonos Town. It’s no surprise that Mykonos Theoxenia is the favourite boutique hotel on the island for visiting fashionistas.
The facilities
Just beyond the boutique hotel’s sleek check-in desk, the lobby bar, ‘Breeze In’, has a laptop with free internet access. But guests at Mykonos Theoxenia tend to spend most of their time stretched out on sun loungers or one of the massage beds around the large free-form swimming pools and relaxing in the outdoor Jacuzzi. At the end of the day they retreat to the boutique hotel’s shady terrace bar, ‘Breeze Out’ to sit elegantly on white ergonomic Little Albert Ron Arad chairs and sip on sundowners as the sun sets.
To keep its guests looking their best, Mykonos Theoxenia’s spa and gym bhealthyClub offers massages, treatments and high-tech fitness equipment. Massages can also be arranged in the rooms of the boutique hotel or by the pool.
Mykonos Theoxenia’s restaurant Plate serves breakfast and gourmet Mediterranean dishes for dinner. Light snacks are available for lunch, but most guests head into Mykonos Town or drive to one of the island’s spectacular beaches. There’s plenty of free private parking for guests just infront of the boutique hotel.
For guests planning an uber-fashionable wedding or special celebration, Mykonos Theoxenia can organise a glittering event at their Saint Charalambos chapel.
The rooms
Mykonos Theoxenia has 52 rooms including 12 suites. All have interactive pay TVs, internet connection and a balcony or terrace. The price of the rooms depends on their view.
Deluxe rooms at the boutique hotel have both a bathroom and shower and Junior Suites have a Jacuzzi bath and a private pergola that can be curtained off from prying eyes.
