Daphne Inn by Jeroen Bergmans

Daphne Inn is a rarity in Rome – a budget hotel with bags of style and a fantastic location just two minutes from the Trevi Fountain. When American owner Elyssa bought up space in two apartment blocks near Piazza Barberini, she named her new designer b&b after Bernini’s iconic statue of Daphne and Apollo in the Borghese Gallery.

The rooms

With a fantastic eye for detail, Elyssa set about filling the eight rooms and four suites of the budget boutique hotel with simple, elegant furnishings and artwork, and adding amenities normally expected of a luxury hotel. Each suite has its own Apple Mac, and the rest of the rooms have a laptop to share. All have WiFi, an iron and ironing board, mini-fridges and hairdryers.

Daphne Inn was a huge hit from the get-go, but Elyssa was never content to rest on her laurels and every year she strives to improve the rooms in her boutique hotel. Daphne Inn is split over two buildings – Daphne Trevi and Daphne Veneto. Daphne Trevi spans three floors of a 17th-century palazzo.

Two of the rooms on the second floor share a living room and bathroom, making them a great choice for families with three children. The two suites at Daphne Veneto are another option for smaller families as each has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and breakfast is served in the room at any time at the boutique hotel.
