"A stroll from the medina, contemporary style lines meet traditional architecture in this riad of neutral colours and clean lines."

Talaa 12 by Joanna Monkhouse

Situated in central Marrakech, the tranquil Talaa 12 is a luxury riad, elegantly renovated in a refreshingly contemporary style of clean lines, calming colours and modern interpretations, respectful of the traditional Moroccan architecture. Talaa 12 is suited to those looking for a modern take on Moroccan style in a great location. The luxury riad is just steps from the souks and next to the Musee de Marrakech, conveniently signed from all areas of the medina.

The facilities

There are plenty of salons at intervals throughout the house in which to chill out: on landings, off the open courtyard, on the expansive roof terrace. Four orange trees grace the corners of the patio, surrounding a low stone fountain filled with floating rose petals. Talaa 12 has no pool though guests can visit one in the palmerie for the day.

Dining is on request and the luxury riad abounds with inviting places to eat – on the terrace, in the courtyard or in the dining room decorated in warm colours and more of the modern art displayed elsewhere in the luxury riad. A traditional hammam is available for guests and massages can be arranged on site.

The rooms

Each of the seven rooms in the luxury riad is unique in decor yet all instill a sense of serenity with their simple drapes, square sofas, thoughtful lighting and a stylish blend of ancient and modern that complements the vast proportions of the building. The high ceilings and thick walls keep the spaces cool though all have a/c.
