"A Flagship property for the Intercontinental group and one of Hong Kong's three Feng Shui hotels"

Intercontinental Hong Kong by Caroline Major

Kowloon is the mythical home of nine dragons which according to Feng Shui rules make for an auspicious site. Having won numerous accolades for its charms, the dragons may very well be channeling the important qi energy through the InterContinental Hong Kong luxury hotel.

The facilities

During a renovation, Chinese art was adopted throughout the luxury hotel, namely in the I-Spa, the luxury hotel lobby, reception area and in the bar which serves nine-dragon cocktails. The feng shui elements contribute to a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere even in the hub of Hong Kong social activity.

The InterContinental’s Michelin-Star Celebrity Chef, Alain Ducasse, has created a restaurant of international appeal called ‘Spoon’. With floor-to-ceiling glass, it offers one of the best restaurant views over the busy buzz of Victoria Harbour. There are no sky-high vistas but you can see the faces of the people in passing boats and the food is up there with the best Hong Kong has to offer.

Upstairs the views continue to surprise. A trio of temperature adjusted infinity spas drop off into the harbour and the rooms with mirrored walls reflect the views from the passing sea traffic.

The rooms

The rooms are comfortable, plush and light with freshness attributable to the excellent use of natural light. Working in a deluxe room with the inspiring view is hard to beat in business hotel room stakes. Free internet, cocktails, high tea and breakfast are all additions which make the luxury hotel hard to beat in terms of service and amenities. The two hours of free flowing Dom Perignon each evening ensure that, and add value to the InterContinental Hong Kong.
