"Grand palace hotel once owned by the Aga Khan, a Milan showpiece"
Arguably Milan's most famous luxury hotel, the Hotel Principe di Savoia attracts an exclusive clientele. Madonna, Eva Peron and Josephine Baker are all former guests. The location of the luxury hotel is also hard to beat – midway between the train station and Castello Sforzesco on the edge of the Piazza della Repubblica.
The facilities
The luxury hotel is equipped with 17 conference rooms, and can host up to 1,000 guests for major functions. The Galleria restauranthas tables spilling out onto a private garden for alfresco dining. On the 10th floor you'll find Club 10, an enormous spa and fitness centre, open to both guests and visitors. It offers a full range of well-being treatments and an infinity pool, plus an unusual “solarium” – a terrace running round the fitness centre – where guests can eat, read or just soak up the sun while admiring the panoramic views over Milan.
The rooms
The 404 rooms at the luxury hotel are decorated in the traditional Lombardy style, with inlaid wooden panels and Italian marble bathrooms (generously stocked with Acqua di Parma products). All rooms have specially designed flat-screen televisions and wi-fi is available throughout the luxury hotel. The luxury hotel also boasts one of the largest presidential suites in Europe (over 500m2) with a separate room for bodyguards and its own private swimming pool.
"The hotel reeks opulence...Extraordinarily, the 299 rooms each have a distinct look, from the baroque to the Spartan. The crown jewel: the three-bedroom presidential suite with Pompeian-style pool, sauna and Turkish bath." Forbes 08
Style seekers with exclusive taste.
Extra beds can be provided on request but baby-sitting is not an option. The hotel is ideal for adults.
The new Acanto restaurant may be contemporary in style, but the food is firmly entrenched in the culinary traditions of Lombardy. Dishes are a flavourful sensation as only the finest, fresh, seasonal ingredients are used. Brunch has fast become an institution for well-heeled Milanesi.
