"An ultra-exclusive, fashionista-friendly boutique hotel with a smart, contemporary interior, veering towards the masculine."
Created by Florentine architect Guido Ciompi, of Gucci boutique fame, The Gray boutique hotel strikes a perfect balance between designer chic and relaxed comfort in Milan. Located just seconds from the Galleria and the Duomo, the boutique hotel combines top-of-the-line service with stunning contemporary aesthetics. Space within the boutique hotel may be limited, but every corner has been used with brilliant efficiency and each room is dramatically different.
The facilities
The eye-catching design features extend to the lobby – the shocking pink cushioned swing will bring out the child in every guest. Headed by renowned chef Sarzi Sartori Luciano, The Gray’s restaurant, Le Noir, serves a regularly changing menu of modern Italian cuisine in a sophisticated dining room decorated with coloured points of light. There is also a minimalist bar, just off the foyer, with tables that light from within, offsetting the dimming of natural daylight. Guests at The Gray can use the nearby spa facilities at the Hotel de la Ville, including the fitness centre, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and massage room.
The rooms
The Gray has 21 uniquely designed rooms: guests can choose from such intriguing options as a suspended bed, a personal fitness centre, a Turkish bath, a private terrace, or a plasma screen above the Jacuzzi. Even the standard rooms are far from predictable, with curving walls, natural colours and bathrooms stocked with the boutique hotel's own line of top quality bath products.
"Clubby, slightly elitist atmosphere (only guests use the facilities) and as design-conscious as you'd expect from a hotel in the Design Hotels consortium." Telegraph 07
Design maverns and young jet-setters love it here.
