Homeric Poems by Jeroen Bergmans

Boutique hotel Homeric Poems is perched on a huge boulder that juts out above the centre of Santorini’s stunning volcanic crater. World-class writers, CEOs and honeymooners return year after year to soak up the sun and the spectacular views on its many terraces and by its aquamarine pools.

The suites

All 19 suites at the boutique hotel have private terraces to enjoy the sunsets over Santorini’s legendary caldera. Each has been named after heroes from ancient Greek mythology like Homer, Kalypso and Menelaus and individually-designed with Greek antiques and colourful local textiles.

The three Superior Suites span a traditional Santorini sea captain’s house and can be joined up to accommodate a group or family of up to12. Their expansive single terrace is paved with original pebble mosaics and fish motifs.

The boutique hotel’s original Honeymoon Suite is split-level. A panoramic window in the bedroom upstairs looks out over the sea and in the living room downstairs antique, brass ship’s windows add a nautical twist. Homeric Poems’ brand new Honeymoon Suite is decorated with orange and purple silks that mimic the hues of the sunset which washes over the bedroom and the large Jacuzzi tub every evening.

But the three Grand Suites are the by far the most impressive rooms in the boutique hotel. Spanning 100sqm, they have large terraces, private pools and marble Jacuzzi baths studded with fibre-optics which sparkle across the ceiling and echo the starry night sky.

The facilities

Breakfast at the boutique hotel is served in your suite and kitchenettes and fridges allow for simple self-catering as there is no restaurant at Homeric Poems. There’s also a selection of excellent restaurants in Firostefani right on the doorstep of the boutique hotel.

A small but stunning swimming pool which blends into the deep blues of the Mediterranean below is used by guests who haven’t checked into more decadent suites which have their own pools. Massages can be arranged on request and there’s a small sauna available to all guests. A laptop in the boutique hotel’s tiny reception also offers free internet access.
