"The Palazzo Belmonte provides a safe haven from the Amalfi Coast crowds, with low-key charms and tranquil surroundings."

The luxury hotel Palazzo Belmonte is a magnificent historical residence on Italy’s Amalfi coast. The palace, which borders the fishing village of Santa Maria di Castellabate, is located in one of the most idyllic places in the Mediterranean and boarders a beautiful beach.

Built in the 17th century by commission of Principe di Belmonte and Marquis of Castellabate, Palazzo Belmonte has been owned by the Granito Pignatelli family for over four hundred years. For centuries the Palace was a favourite hunting lodge for a succession of Kings of Spain and Italy who came to hunt wild boar and shoot quail on the impressive grounds surrounding the estate.

Principe di Belmonte, who currently lives in a private wing of the palazzo, has converted part of this unique building - without altering any of the original features - into beautiful, spacious suites/apartments.

Despite its grand credentials, the luxury hotel is unpretentious and a haven for kids and families.

The facilities

Palazzo Belmonte’s staff are excellent, as is the restaurant and nearby beach.

The rooms

Palazzo Belmonte is the perfect blend of old tradition and modern comfort, with its 61 rooms and suites split into three separate areas.

The original Palazzo is comprised of 22 suites/apartments, each with sitting room and some with balconies; all quarters are located within three wings of the beautiful courtyard.

Edoardo's House has nine suites, all of which have the option to interconnect (making them great for families). Other luxury hotel amenities include air conditioning and satellite TV. Some have balconies.

Villa Belmonte has 30 new double rooms which are discreetly located in the gardens. Rooms are fully air conditioned, with private terraces offering fabulous views of the sea. They all connect with an extra room, making this accommodation block perfect for families.

Press Quotes

"The restaurant, which is excellent and genuinely welcomes children, tempts enough of the guests to have made self-catering a diminishing attraction." The Independent 07
