As for the daring little Pen Top Bar, it perches dizzyingly over the twinkling lights of Fifth Avenue and makes a perfect late-night eerie. Efficient service with smiles, attention to detail and an uncanny combination of sophistication and cosiness make this one of the city's best luxury hotels. Also, the location, just blocks away from the Rockefeller Centre, museums and Central Park, is second to none.
The rooms
The 241 rooms at this luxury hotel boast European antique-style furnishings. However, guestrooms at the Peninsula also have all the technological modernity of the luxury hotel's Hong Kong owners and the most self-indulgent of American bathrooms. Indeed, these are possibly the best bathrooms in all of New York.
