Eating in

"The spa is exceptional, with yoga workshops, meditation, and a big menu of treatments" Conde Nast Traveler 07

"Cocoa Island remains one of the most iconic boutique hotels in the Maldives thanks to its great diving and sybaritic rooms on traditional boats."

Cocoa Island resort hotel is located in the Maldive Islands, immersed in the gentle breezes, leaning palm fronts and encircling reefs of the azure blue Indian Ocean. The resort hotel is in South Malé Atoll, a 40-minute scenic speedboat ride from the international airport. On the west side lies the Kandooma Channel, considered to be one of the best dive sites in the Maldives; on the other side is a quiet reef for snorkeling.

The facilities

Next to an infinity-edge pool, the Ufaa Asian-inspired restaurant provides well sourced, seasonal ingredients and fresh produce. Guests can also benefit from COMO Shambhala cuisine, a menu specifically designed to maximise energy and wellbeing. The COMO Shambhala Retreat includes a spa, an open-air yoga pavilion, a range of Asian-inspired therapies including reflexology and ayurveda. Access to the surrounding reefs makes the resort hotel an ideal spot for diving with dolphins or snorkeling with tropical fish.

The rooms

Each of the 33 rooms, comprised of eight dhoni suites, nine dhoni loft suites, ten loft villas and six villas, sit offshore on the southern side of the Cocoa, overhanging the picturesque lagoon. The resort hotel’s style is deliberately simple yet sophisticated, marrying natural wood walls and flooring with a palette of white furnishings. The majority of rooms are inspired by dhoni boats, as used by Maldivian fishermen and can only be reached by planked walkways, making each water villa a private oasis.
