Press Quotes

"Nowhere is more shelf space devoted to good reading than at the elegant, six-year-old Library Hotel...From the hefty art books shelved in mahogany in the sleek lobby to the delicate volumes of verse in the Poetry Garden on the 14th-floor indoor terrace, the place is a bibliophile's dream" The Washington Post 07

"A academically themed boutique hotel, with literary sensibilities, a 24-hour library and plenty of old-school charm."

The Library by Chloe Loyd

At the Library Hotel in New York, each floor is dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal System, ranging from Maths & Science to Literature. Each of this luxury hotel's 60 rooms works on a theme within that genre. You will never be short of a room to choose from, or a book for that matter (there are over 6,000 in the hotel).

Inspired by the nearby majestic New York Public Library and the Pierpont Morgan Library, the Library Hotel was designed to have a club-like feel.

The facilities

Wine and cheese are served in the spacious book-lined Reading Room at this luxury hotel from 5pm until 8pm. Coffee and biscuits are on offer throughout the day. Guests of clients are always welcome, and a grand piano awaits those who are so moved to play.

On the 14th floor of the Library Hotel, the mahogany-panelled Writers' Den, with working fire and cosy seating, and the greenhouse-themed Poetry Garden provide a snug getaway. Complete with bar and rooftop terrace with fantastic views of the New York skyline, these are the most relaxing rooms to be in. A small business centre with two online computers is always available at this luxury hotel.

The rooms

The 60 rooms at the Library Hotel have different themes based upon book genres. Booked into 'Mysteries,' my bookshelves were appropriately filled with suspense novels and detective thrillers. Even an Agatha Christie-style typewriter perched on my desk and photo scenes from Mystery films adorned the walls of my luxury room.

Elegantly decorated in shades of cream, this luxury hotel’s rooms are simple and comfortable. Polished desks and mahogany doors and cabinets lend an academic air and orchid plants a sophisticated flair. There are immaculate marble bathrooms with arched ceilings and Natura bath products at the Library Hotel. Petite rooms are very small but good for those on a budget. 'Erotic Literature' is the most coveted room with 'Fairytales' a close second.
