One way to get away from it all in New York is to go up, and as the city’s tallest luxury hotel, the Four Seasons New York City Hotel gives ample opportunity to do this.
The facilities
The views out of the Four Seasons look down between tall buildings and onto snaking queues of yellow cabs which is, of course, pure Manhattan. Taking breakfast out on the terrace while watching office workers in adjacent skyscrapers is an experience unto itself. Well-positioned in central Manhattan at East 57th Street, this is among the most assured of the Four Seasons luxury hotel chain.
The rooms
This luxury hotel boasts 369 spacious rooms in elegant surroundings. In the large upper floor rooms it is easy to feel comfortably cocooned from all the city’s noise and dirt. Though, rooms with their own terraces are even more atmospheric. You also have to be careful too not to leave the bath running as the Four Seasons hotel boasts that its tubs “fill in 60 seconds”.

Eating in
The somewhat reserved and starchy Fifty Seven does serve fabulous, modern American fare but has most definitely been upstaged by the hotel's new restaurant l'Atelier Joel Robuchon. This legendary chef's signature, purist flavours that spring from ingredients of the utmost quality have signalled a welcome departure from the trend for food that's fussy or fusion.
