By TI Reviewer Katie Thomas
Not your average Chelsea boutique hotel, No 11 London comprises of four revamped Victorian townhouses where antiques stand side-by-side with the cool, contemporary styling of Paul Davies. A firm favourite of the fashion pack, it owes much to its excellent location, just a stroll away from Sloane Street. No 11 London is an ideal place to unload and unwind after a shopping binge at designer stores like Prada, Hugo Boss and Tod's.
The facilities
Inside the boutique hotel, the elaborate Italian glass chandeliers set a glamorous tone against the aubergine walls, heavy swathes of velvet and dark wood furnishings. In keeping with the edgy, modern feel of the place, the light fittings are scarlet, Studio 54 prints cover entire sections of the walls and bouquets of roses find homes in fishbowls.
Adjacent to the lobby is the library with a large flat-screen TV framed in filigree, lined on each side by leather-bound antique books. The lounge, with its blazing fire and welcoming sofas, features antique artworks and sumptuous fabrics. The boutique hotel's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in white-on-white surroundings, with black and white photographs of the glitterati papering the walls.
The spa treatment rooms are a recent addition on the underground level and are still awaiting completion (which is expected by 2009). The spa rooms lead to the gym, which has mirrored walls and several cardio machines- all of which sit atop a stunning wooden herringbone floor.
The rooms
The boutique hotel has 60 guest rooms including five suites. Each room is individually designed with sumptuous beds, elegant wood furnishings and beautiful wallpaper. Free WiFi is available throughout, and two computers are available for guest use on the ground floor.
All the spacious ensuite bathrooms are marble and come with special makeup mirrors, terry cloth robes and Molton Brown products. Each room also features complimentary still and sparkling water carafes with a tin of delicious shortbread biscuits.
